About Not getting paid overtime, hours "rolling over" to next check

Not getting paid overtime, hours "rolling over" to next check.?
I work at a Dairy Queen in Fort Wayne. We get paid bi-weekly, and this pay period I have exceeded 80 hours. I worked around 36 week one, and about 50 week two. I was told that my hours will just "roll-over" to the next paycheck to avoid being paid overtime pay. This isn't many hours, and I know if I complain to management about this I will more than likely lose my job. I have been documenting all of my hours, I am not really sure what to do next. Any advice on what I should do now would be very helpful.

Answer 1 :
Look up your state's wage & hours commission/department. You should be able to file a complaint with the state if this is in fact illegal. I suspect it is but I do not know the details of Indiana's laws. You might also try speaking to someone one level up from management (do you have a district or regional manager?) or if your company has a hotline to report sexual harassment, employee theft, etc. you could give that a try.
Answer 2 :
No, it's not legal. Your call - report it to the dept of labor and get the OT pay, but you're right you'd probably lose your job.
Answer 3 :
first, you need to make sure you know what the work-week is and how it relates to the pay-periods,,,,, then, overtime is based on the work-week (as defined by the employer), and it MUST be paid..... so, if you are sure that you have overtime in a work-week and are not paid for it ask management to correct this, and if they don't file a wage claim with the state at: http://www.in.gov/dol/2734.htm or just live with the abuse

Answer 2 :
References Available on request-delete this, employers assume that you have references. Went a straight 3 years-no numbers use three •A lot of heavy lifting and moving-this sounds negative, it sounds like you don't like moving. Objective I am looking for a great opportunity to get into a new career to better myself and family. I would like to utilize current and new skills alike.-you need to modify this to every position you apply for, and it is way too long. also have one section that says job objective, keep this simple. followed by summary of qualifications which is followed by bullets describing your qualifications. you need to modify this for every job you apply for. •Constantly topping out on the incentive program-this might not be understood by all employers. ----also you have two sections describing your position and duties. write your position followed by your bullets which describe your duties example: Warehouse Specialist *receiving orders

About I am a 19 year old college student

I am a 19 year old college student...?
And I work in Retail (I live in Fort Wayne, IN).... I really would like to find a decent paying job, that I don't have to deal w/ public or people too much. I use to not mind working around many people or with public but i've been doing it for almost 4 years now, & i'm starting to feel myself become a little anti-social. Any jobs u can think of that a 19 year old, college student can find, where you don't deal with people too much??

There's really no such thing. Unless you want to go do some factory work.

Why would any employer hire someone who is anti-social? You need to work on your "dealing with people" or you will end up unemployed and homeless
Answer 4 :

About I need help naming a candle, soap, and all-natural cleaning products company

I need help naming a candle, soap, and all-natural cleaning products company!?
A friend and I have decided to start out own company. We'll see SOY (only) candles, tarts, and other scented products (ie scented hanging ornaments, car fresheners, etc). We all want to offer all natural soaps, bath bombs, bath jellies, lip balms, etc (you get the point). Last but not least we want to sell all-natural cleaning products (laundry detergent, window cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, etc). We need a CATCHY name. Something that incorporates a bit of each category without being "Britney & Jessica's Candles, Soaps, and Cleaning Supplies." Since we both live in separate cities, we've ruled out names involving location. Unless we can work the word "fort" in there somehow (I live in FORT Wayne, She's in FORT Knox). PLEASE HELP!

Answer 1 :
The Green Dragon Company Green is for all natural. Dragon is for fire (candles) and dragon can be power in cleaning. It would make a great logo also.
Answer 2 :
Jess, I think that is great that you brought this question of what to name your company and products to the public. That is fantastic and I hope you will get a lot great feedback. I am not sure what you had in mind for being catchy but sometimes keeping things simple and straight forward are the best choices. Maybe you could start with something like soy natural or something similar I think there is a company with that name but playing on those key terms helps as well when choosing a site for online and helps with ranking in key search terms as well. You may want to check out google's keyword search tool as well as it tells what is trending in searches and this can help spark some names too. Sorry for the long response but thought it might help with thinking of some names. Best luck and great that you are doing it natural! Harry My Eco Guy

•identify a need for a set of instructions—how to design a water garden (a hot topic in Fort Wayne because of flooding), how to work your audio/visual equipment for visitors, children or others, how to compete a task using specific computer software, etc. The task must be fairly intricate—not how to make a pizza, but not how to build a real sailboat either.

About How long do you have to wait to work for a McCopCo Mcdonald's when leaving a Owner/Operator store

How long do you have to wait to work for a McCopCo Mcdonald's when leaving a Owner/Operator store?
Hi, I worked for an Owner/Operator store in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and I was fired, but listed as Voluntary Quit status. I have a friend who is a hiring manager for a McCopCo store in Fort Wayne, and is willing to hire me, but my previous boss, won't release me to work for McCopCo. How long do I have to wait to work for McCopCo stores again, and do I have to wait to work for another Owner Operator? If so, what can I do about getting released to work if the Owner is unwilling to do so?
Corporations - 1 Answers

Answer 1 :
First of all if you were fired then let it be so. By him listing you as Voluntary Quit status, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits. I don't see why you can't work for the other store. Contact the corporate headquarters and explain the situation. It sounds like the owner is being vindictive and quite possibly breaking labor laws. If you get nowhere with corporate, go to your local labor board/unemployment office and see what your options are

I am trying to find softball league in Fort Wayne, IN?
I have played softball at Wallen since I was 5, i started out horrible but i practiced soo much and i had a coach that finally believed and me and gave me a chance. I Basically taught myself to play softball. I worked my ass off my freshman year in order to try out for my high school team, but i got cut. It was a major heartbreak but i learned alot about myself in the process. My sophomore year in high school i worked 10 times harder because this was a my dream 100% what i wanted to do. I got cut again, i am done with my high school team im not trying out a third time simply because i cant go through that again, i was wanting to play on a competative team this summer and didnt know how to go about doing this.

You probably got cut because of basic grammar and spelling issues. I'd suggest taking a basic English course. "I" is always capitalized. Hope this helps

Unmarked building on St. Joe Center Road in Fort Wayne, IN?
Does anyone know what it is? It's white, with these blue windows and no sign saying what it is? Me and my family think it might be some kind of govt. building because it's so secretive. I once drove in there to turn around and some dude who worked there was like, "What are you doing?" So, I think I might be interested to hear of it. If it is top secret then tell me and i'll forget all about this.

About Thinking of relocating to either Fort Wayne, Indiana or Winston-Salem, NC

Thinking of relocating to either Fort Wayne, Indiana or Winston-Salem, NC?
We are torn apart, we have to relocate in 5 months, hubby got job offers from both places, we are currently living in Nj. Fort wayne job pays $60K more than Winston-Salem job and also has 8 less working weeks in a year. This would be a no brainer for most people but the Winston Salem job would also pay over $150K a year, the cost of living is also cheaper I think. It's a dilemma for us as we are young African family and we really treasure diversity and warm weather...could cope with the cold mid-west weather but we are not sure how the issue of race would play ou..I researched the area schools where we would want to be and almost there are just 3% blacks..we are very open..i assume global integrating people but I am not sure if this would be good for the kids..what's your honest opinion?

I grew up in North Carolina but moved to the Midwest (Wisconsin) over 5 years ago. Personally, I greatly prefer the mid-west, and if I were face with the 2 financial/job options you are faced with, the no-brainer for me would be to choose the job in Indy... HOWEVER, that being said, the fact that you have children is a huge deciding factor. NC can a great place to raise children (although I have never LIVED in Indiana, only visited, so I can't give my opinion on raising children there). I would suggest going to Indiana-specifc websites & forums to get local people's opinion on raising children there. Then do the same for NC. I wish you the best of luck! Sorry if I was no help...
Answer 2 :
Keep in mind that although the Fort Wayne and Winston-Salem jobs are offered in those cities, that does not mean you have to live in those cities themselves. Your husband could commute and I'm sure 20 minutes wouldn't be a big deal. I've met people that commute for over 2 hours every day for a single trip. But anyways, just because there is a low african-american population in a particular city doesn't mean that the people in the city are necessarily racist

This kid has to grow up real fast. He is going to have a hard life ahead of him. Yahoo answers can only help so much. The fact that you are asking for help, doesn't reflect well on him. He needs to get out there and put an application in every place in town. Tell him to leave no stone unturned. Even if he gets a job, he really should try to learn a trade, like plumber for example. So far he has seemed to concentrate on all of the wrong things. He needs to put his nose to the grindstone and take care of his responsibility. Good Luck to you and him
